Dark Viking Berkley Sensation Sandra Hill Books

I really enjoy reading Sandra Hill's Viking books, especially this particular series. I read one of the negative reviews that criticized the book for not being historically accurate. Well, this series is not meant to be completely historically accurate as many historical novels try to be. This series is meant to be funny and silly, and it is. That's why I enjoy it so much. I enjoy reading historical novels, especially medieval, Viking, and Regency, and yes, I want them to be accurate. But this series is not meant to be, and I don't expect it to be. The Vikings are more like stereotypes, caricatures. It is meant to be a silly, funny series, and it fulfills that purpose. I do not read it expecting something that it wasn't intended to be. Many seem to also criticize the book for the dog collar episode. No, I didn't care for that. But you also have to consider Steven's reasons for doing that. He tells Rita why he is doing it. To his mind, it makes sense and is reasonable. I don't think the readers were meant to like that. They are supposed to empathize with Rita, the modern day woman. I have read this book several times and all the others in the series at least twice. Read them for what they are meant to be-- funny, light, silly stories with some goofy and memorable characters. If you want to read something serious, great. But don't read these expecting one thing, and then criticize them when they were meant to be something else.

Dark Viking Berkley Sensation Sandra Hill Books Reviews

I normally love the SEALs/Viking series, but I have come to realize I prefer it when its set in modern time and the Viking is female. Those books make me laugh so hard, but this one just didn't have the kind of humor I find funny. While I do like alpha heros, I am not a fan of barbaric ones who spend most of the book looking down on women and assuming control over everything. It had its cheeky humor, some hot sex scenes, and a great heroine who gave as good as she got, but I just couldn't get into the hero's barbaric nature.
Really enjoy Sandra Hill as an author - she never fails to deliver with her stories. Would definitely purchase more from her and am eagerly awaiting the next book on my wish list.
This book was very interesting, it starts out in the present and then the lead character gets sent into the past without a choice. It's interesting to see her reactions to how different things are. The book is also very humerous!
great Book to read..I read over 1000 books over the years , so it is hard for me to find a good book..It was not the best I read...but very entertaining..I love historical and paranormal romance books..It was worth my time..
This book was an absolute mess. It begins switching back and forth between a woman in modern America and a guy in the Viking age. This wouldn't be a problem if the author used transitions or subheadings, but she doesn't! The first time it switched scenes so abuptly that I thought a second book had been spliced into the middle of the one I was reading. It continued to to do this for a while, which was very frustrating. After that was settled I tried really hard to like the book, really I did. However I just could not get over how poorly written it was. Characters were bland, plot was nonexistant, and the sex scenes were boring. I love romance books, vikings, and time travel so this book should have been right up my ally! I can't remember the last time I was this disapointed in a book. I did finish it simply because I couldn't believe that it wouldn't eventually get better, but it never did. Start to finish this book was an absolute waste of time and money. I don't think I will read anything by this author again to be honest.
This is funny and very unrealistic but who cares! The book is a great read and I do recommend reading the entire series including the the books in the Viking 1 series. It helps with the timeline. I like the real time references put in context and then applied to the past makes you wonder if that happened would it be documented and who's going to hide the fact time travel occurred.
I have always loved Sandra's writing. And she didn't let me down with DARK VIKING. The story is engaging, emotional, funny, and greatly written! I loved it. This is a time-travel and so great you'll swear you are there with Rita. DARK VIKING is part of Ms. Hill's Viking series, but can be read as a stand alone. I'd suggest you be prepared to laugh out loud, literally at moments, so please keep that in mind. You may find yourself getting teary-eyed as well, but when the final page is turned you'll sigh and have a smile spliting your face. You'll also find if you've never read Sandra Hill before that you MUST have all her backlist books. For those of us who have read her, this one was another "Keeper Shelf" read that just leaves us eager for the next release. With Sandra Hill I can guarantee you a great story!
